CORNER ERROR ADJUSTMENT
  • Digital Load Cell - Output signal of Digital Load cell comes in Digital form, so long distance signal transmission or electrical noise can not effect the signal output. Hence the distance between load cells & digitizer can be as long as 500m without use of signal repeaters.
  • Analog Load Cell - Corner error has to be tested and removed manually in Analog Load Cell which is a very tedious and expensive process. If corner errors are generated during regular usage, it is very difficult to find and remove these as it require lots of skills
 
CALIBRATION
  • Digital Load Cell – Digital Load Cells are pre calibrated with weight and hence no calibration is required in the field. Only a small corrective calibration may be required if there is major structure deformity.
  • Analog Load Cell – Calibration has to be done in the field using test weights. This is a very expensive and cumbersome process.
 
SIGNAL TRANSMISSION
  • Digital Load Cell – Output signal of Digital Load cell comes in Digital form, so long distance signal transmission or electrical noise can not effect the signal output. Hence the distance between load cells & digitizer can be as long as 500m without use of signal repeaters.
  • Analog Load Cell – As the output of Analog Load Cell is in analog form with values in micro volt, the same is very sensitive to electrical noise pick-ups. Under this circumstance, the distance between load cells and indicator is limited to 20 meters.
 
CAPACITY OF LOAD CELL TO USE IN WEIGH BRIDGE
  • Digital Load cell – As each Digital Load cell gives output in Digital counts, so in a weigh-bridge Digital Load cells of different capacities can also be used without affecting the output, like one of 10T, two of 15T and one of 20T.
  • Analog Load Cell – Sum of output of all the Analog Load cell is converted into Digital counts through a single A to D converter. So it is necessary to use Load cell of same capacity in a weigh-bridge.
 
REPLACEMENT OF LOAD CELL
  • Digital Load Cell – Since the Digital Load cells are pre-calibrated in the factory, it can be easily replaced in the field without the hassle of scale calibration or corner error removal.
  • Analog Load Cell – If any Analog Load cell is to replace in the field, it requires scale calibration with weights and also corner error removal. This is because the load cells has variation in their analog outputs which has to be matched with the other load cells used in the scale.
 
INSTALLATION
  • Digital Load Cell - Installation of Digital Load Cell is very simple and fast process. Even a non expert person can install it without any problem.
  • Analog Load Cell - Installation of Analog load Cell requires much expertise, as Corner error adjustment and calibration of load cell is a very cumbersome process.
 
COST EFFECTIVENESS
  • Digital Load Cell – Use of Digital Load cell save lots of time and effort during installation and maintenance, that results in saving of Labor cost and maintenance cost. Even the performance of Digital Load cell is much better as compare to Analog Load cell, so results in customer satisfaction.
  • Analog Load Cell – Analog Load cells are also good option to use, but installation, calibration and maintenance of Analog Load cell incurs lot of time, effort and labor cost.
